Laser Dental Technology
We all want to have healthy teeth, but the thought of needles and drills make the idea of visiting the dentist less appealing. With a Waterlase Dentist, you can now receive a better quality of dental care, with fewer visits and without many of the discomforts of traditional dentistry.
Benefits of using laser assisted dentistry:
•Less discomfort during and after treatments
•Preservation of natural, healthy teeth while targeting decay
•Fewer visits
•Protects teeth against further decay
•Less need for needles and drills
•Reduced treatment time
Periodontal Treatment for Gum Disease
Several studies link chronic inflammation from periodontitis with the development of cardiovascular problems. Researchers have discovered that if you have periodontal disease, you may have an increased risk for heart disease, artery blockages, and stroke. Also, people with diabetes often have periodontal disease. It is vital to the health of your body to keep your gums and mouth healthy. We will perform a periodontal screening to check for gum disease and discuss the findings and different treatment recommendations with you.
Dentures and Partial Dentures
If many of your teeth are loose or painful, it may be too late to save them. Sometimes when teeth are non-restorable the best option it to remove the infected teeth and fabricate dentures or partial dentures to fill in the spaces. We can evaluate your teeth and make a recommendation as to the type of denture or partial denture that would suit you best. All of our dentures and partial dentures are made with the highest quality materials and have the most natural looking teeth so that you can smile with confidence again.
We offer the Valplast Flexible Partial, which is a non-metal partial denture. It is an unbreakable, removable partial that many people find very comfortable. This lightweight partial is practically invisible and completely eliminates the need for metal clasps which can cause irritation.
Implants and Mini Implants
An implant is the next best thing to your natural tooth. An implant can be used to replace a single missing tooth or several missing teeth in an area. The implant replaces the root of the missing tooth or teeth which will lessen the loss of bone that occurs from a missing tooth. Implants are then used to secure a single crown, a bridge, or dentures.
Mini Dental Implants (1.8mm in diameter) are smaller than typical dental implants. The Mini Dental Implant System was developed in order to provide greater denture stability for those who do not have enough bone to allow for full sized implants to be placed.
Veneers and Lumineers
A veneer is a porcelain shield that is bonded to the front of your teeth to create a dramatic change in your smile. Veneers can be used to close spaces between teeth, lengthen small or misshapen teeth, or cover stained or dark teeth.
A lumineer is a thinner porcelain veneer. Lumineers can be made as thin as a contact lens and are translucent enough to look like your real teeth. In SOME cases we don't have to use a drill or anesthetic to prepare your teeth.
Night Guards and TMJ Appliances (NTI-tss)
The FDA-approved dental device called a NTI-Tension Suppression System can help stop headaches, sore jaw, stiff neck, and sensitive teeth. Bruxism is the clenching or grinding of the teeth that often occurs while a person is sleeping. The symptoms are a sore, tired jaw, difficulty in opening and closing your mouth, ear aches, or pain in your jaw and migraine headaches. In one office visit we can create a custom-made NTI-tss device that will greatly reduce the intensity of the bruxism and minimize the source of the pain. Within a few hours up to a few weeks you will find relief from your painful symptoms.
Composite Resin Restorations (White Fillings)
Resin, or tooth colored fillings, are now the filling material of choice. The resin material used contains small "filler" particles for strength and wear resistance. They contain the finest and most up-to-date materials available today and come in many different shades of tooth enamel to match your teeth exactly.
Some patients have silver fillings in their mouth. Over time, silver fillings begin to leak and let bacteria into the tooth. The bacteria lead to decay and weaken the tooth, risking fracture and other more serious problems. We will inspect your existing fillings during your examination and recommend a new restoration at the appropriate time.
Crowns and Fixed Bridges
Crowns, sometimes referred to as "caps," cover the entire surface of a tooth and are a strong restoration that will protect the tooth for many years. Fixed bridges are used to bridge across an area of missing teeth. A dental bridge is attached to the teeth on either side of the missing teeth. Some crowns and bridges have metal underneath the exterior porcelain and some are porcelain all the way through. All-porcelain crowns and bridges are a beautiful and natural-looking choice that can drastically improve the way you look. We will evaluate your mouth and recommend a specific type of crown or bridge that will suit your needs.
Endodontic or Root Canal Therapy
Endodontic (root canal) therapy is performed in order to save a tooth which otherwise might need to be removed. This is accomplished by conservative root canal therapy, which is the removal of the diseased tissues in and around the tooth. Dr. Spurlock will treat most endodontic cases here at this office, completing the procedure in 1 or 2 visits. The value of a natural tooth is irreplaceable, so endodontic treatment is a great way to save your teeth.
Tooth Removal and Sedation (Sleep Dentistry)
When an infected, broken, or wisdom tooth has to be removed, Dr. Spurlock can extract the tooth here at our office. He takes his time and is very gentle. You will be given a local anesthetic to numb that area of the mouth.
We offer 3 levels of sedation at our office. The first level is Nitrous Oxide, often called laughing gas. Nitrous oxide is a gas that you breathe through a nose piece during your visit. Most people feel relaxed, happy, and unconcerned. There are no long-lasting effects after you stop breathing the gas so you can safely drive yourself home. The second level is a mild sedative that we can prescribe for you to take prior to coming to your visit. Most people feel relaxed, unconcerned, and sleepy. The third level, conscience sedation, is a combination of a specific sedative and nitrous oxide. The medicines are given here in our office and most people feel very sedated or sleep through the entire appointment. We will evaluate your medical history and your dental apprehensions to recommend a level that is appropriate for you.
Teeth Whitening
Whitening your smile is the fastest, least expensive, and most conservative way to improve your smile. Only a dentist can get your teeth their whitest. That is why we recommend that you come in for a smile analysis. We can determine what tooth enamel color you currently are on the shade charts and show you how you compare. There are many different formulas and treatment options for whitening your smile that we offer at our office. We have found, though, the use of trays worn at home is the most comfortable and safest way to whiten your teeth in a matter of days. A delicious gel is worn overnight or during the day using a comfortable and inconspicuous custom fitted tray. There are many options, so reserve your appointment today to discuss how to brighten up your smile and improve your appearance
